Skills for life apprenticeships

How do we celebrate apprentices in Kent and Medway?

This week you will have learned about the incredible value for all of those involved to support an apprenticeship.

Kent and Medway's health and care employers, business partners and education providers appreciate the work and effort that goes into supporting apprentices, and the skills, knowledge and behaviours they bring into the workforce.

The Apprentice Graduation Ceremony takes place every year at Rochester Cathedral and is a wonderful way to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our apprentices.

This year's ceremony will take place on Friday 18th October. Click on the link to find out more about the Apprentice Graduation Ceremony, how to register as an apprentice to graduate, or how to sponsor the event.

Lisa's apprenticeship story

Lisa was one of the first five colleagues to become a fully-qualified occupational therapist (OT) through Kent Community NHS Health Foundation Trustโ€™s (KCHFT) Clinical Academy, set up in 2019 to help recruit and train nursing colleagues and those in allied health professions.

Beginning her career in healthcare as a healthcare assistant thirteen years ago, she has now joined KCHFTโ€™s Acute Response Team as a fully qualified OT, helping to provide short-term health, personal care and rehabilitation support in the community.

Lisa said: โ€œAlthough it was something I had always wanted to do, it wasnโ€™t until I joined KCHFT that I got the opportunity to apply for the OT apprenticeship. I was supported by my manager throughout the application process and I felt so lucky when I was accepted. I love being able to help others. As an OT, I have the opportunity to improve peopleโ€™s lives for the better by putting their goals at the centre of the care we provide.โ€
